Exhibitors intending to sell live animals must either hold a valid Pet Shop licence or be able satisfy the below conditions as a hobbyist breeder. A copy of the relevant Pet Shop licence must be produced within 24 hours if requested.
Conditions of eligibility as a hobbyist:
Exhibitors are responsible for obtaining any required licenses to keep and sell all animals and products that they possess at the show and are responsible for researching and understanding those requirements.
DAERA inspectors may be present at the event to check and satisfy that the above conditions are met.
All animals must be healthy and legal to sell within Northern Ireland. Exhibitors who intentionally or repeatedly offer illegal or unhealthy animals for sale may be banned from future shows.
All animals brought onsite are subject to a welfare inspection from an RCVS registered vet. The vet’s decision is final.
Any animal listed under the Dangerous Wild Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 may not be displayed, sold, or brought onto show premises. Breach of this will result in removal from the premises and the exhibitor being banned from any future events.
All animals must be displayed and sold in a secure container that meets the following guidelines:
1. Be of a suitable size for the animal, allowing it to freely move and turn around.
2. Be made of an opaque material so as to prevent the animal from seeing other animals while on display. A transparent lid is acceptable to allow viewing.
3. Allow for adequate heating and ventilation without risking the animal escaping.
4. Have a label affixed clearly displaying:
a) scientific and common name of the species
b) Hatch date/ age of animal
c) CITES status if appropriate
d) typical size of adult animals
e) sex of the offered animals (if known)
f) size and date of last feed, and date of next due feed.
With the exception of communal invertebrates and communal micro species such as mourning geckos, all animals must be housed separately.
Exhibitors are responsible for the safety and security of the animals and stock in their care at all times. Tables may not be left unsupervised at any time and the organisers accept no liability for any theft, loss or breakages that may occur before, during or after the show.
The Ulster Reptile Show is a family friendly event. If organisers deem an exhibitor’s products or table presentation to be non-family-friendly or of an offensive nature, they may ask for the item(s) to be removed from display. This includes but is not limited to weapons, sexual or pornographic imagery, adult language, religious or political solicitation, vaping or smoking products, piercing, and tattooing.
Any exhibitor who is asked by organisers to remove offending products or content and does not do so immediately is in violation of these rules and may be required to leave the show. This also applies to exhibitors whose behaviour is deemed offensive or otherwise inappropriate for such an event.
Each table should have a floor length tablecloth, which must be provided by the exhibitor. Exhibitors are expected to leave their area clean and tidy after the event.
No table may promote any business, service, hobbyist or event other than the one stated on the application. The exhibitor will be asked to remove any promotional materials, and may be asked to leave after if this is not adhered to.
To prevent undue stress to the animals, only service animals may be permitted into the building other than those being sold. Members of the public may not bring any other animals into the venue.
S&D’s Critter Company is the exclusive provider of frozen feeders for the show. No other exhibitor may offer frozen feeders, promote frozen feeders, or bring a freezer into the show without the approval of S&D’s Critter Company.
Feeder insects must be sold in an appropriately labelled and secure container.
S&D’S Critter Company is the exclusive provider of herp tools for the show. Herp tools include equipment such as probes, hooks etc. Other equipment may be sold without restriction.
The number of exhibitors offering new dry goods may be capped, dependant on applications. “Dry Goods” are considered to be commercially produced enclosures purchased by the exhibitor and offered for resale, products utilised inside reptile enclosures to maintain reptile pets (such as substrate, vitamin supplements, light bulbs, etc). Any exhibitor may offer dry goods that they produce themselves without restriction. Any dry goods offered must remain inside the permitted area for the table or tables purchased by the exhibitor, i.e., they may not block aisles or encroach on other tables space.
Used equipment may be sold providing that is safe to use and of an adequate quality. Excessively dirty or damaged used equipment may be instructed to be removed from the premises for safety and hygiene reasons.
Tables are £60 each or 2 tables for £100. Full payment must be received within 72 hours of booking confirmation email to guarantee table. Half size tables may be available to small hobbyists depending on availability and demand. Please send an email to enquire.
Exhibitors must hold a current membership of All Ireland Reptile Keepers Alliance in order to apply for a table(s). AIRKA membership and the table application should be in the same name.
Organisers reserve the right to form a waiting list should the event sell out. There is no charge to be on the waiting list, however if you are on the list and offered a space you must confirm or reject the offer within 24hours to allow others the chance.
The purchase of a table will entitle the exhibitor to two (2) entry wristbands, with one (1) additional wristband provided for each additional table thereafter. These wristbands will be posted to the address provided on the booking form prior to the show and must be worn at all times whilst at the venue.
Tables are non-transferrable; the names of exhibitors must be provided on the booking form. Exhibitors whose names are not recorded will not be permitted entry even with a wristband.
Cancellations should only be made by email to ulsterreptileshow@outlook.com. If more than 28 days before the show, a full refund of any payments made will be given, 14-28 days’ notice will receive a 50% refund, while less than 14 days’ notice will forfeit any payments already made.
